· 01 · The brief

Two days from artwork to paste, eight days from paste to festival.

Scout came to us with artwork and wanted paper on Charlotte walls the same week.

The run carried the Scout Harvester Festival, a free day at Camp North End on Saturday 26 September, booked through New Moon Agency.

The posters print the whole invitation: the venue, the address, SATURDAY 9.26, 1:00PM – 9:00PM, FREE WITH RSVP, and a QR code to register. Small coordinate stamps sit in the margins as part of the design.

The brand is Scout Motors, the Volkswagen Group company that revived International Harvester's Scout nameplate as an electric truck and SUV marque, revealing its first two models, the Traveler SUV and Terra pickup, in October 2024. Camp North End lists the festival as a free, full-day hometown gathering, and hometown is close to literal here: in November 2025 Scout announced it was moving its headquarters to Charlotte's Plaza Midwood, a move the governor's office put at 1,200 jobs. The paper went up in a city the brand was in the middle of moving to.

The buy was 100 wheatpaste posters at 24 by 36 inches, three designs across the run. Beyond Street Media printed and installed it in house.

· 02 · Where we ran it

Where we ran it.

It opened in South End, crossed into Uptown, worked the First Ward, dropped to Third Ward and doubled back.

The first sheets went up along the Charlotte Rail Trail in South End at 17:37: a cream-painted brick flank with sixteen sheets in two rows, then, minutes later, a boarded storefront opening in dark red brick carrying twenty across the raw board.

By 18:28 the crew was on West Trade Street at the Gateway edge of Uptown, pasting the mauve-painted panels under a building's timber-ceilinged overhang. A short hop to North College Street in the First Ward at 18:44 put two rows onto white-painted brick beside a parking sign.

East 11th Street at 19:00 is the largest surface of the run: a long patched wall of white-painted concrete panels under a bright red steel canopy, dark glazed brick above and red brick piers between the bays, roughly thirty sheets running two rows deep.

North Brevard Street at 19:17 is the densest cluster, six frames in ninety seconds across a row of black-painted boards filling bricked-up openings in red brick, chain-link mesh and timber mullions above. A parking sign in two of those frames reads 328 N. Brevard St, which is the block the coordinates put the crew on.

South Graham Street in the Third Ward at 19:31 took blocks of six, three across and two down, onto a cracked concrete retaining wall that steps down along the sidewalk. The run closed back on West Trade Street at 19:42, under the overpass, with the last sheets going onto the same mauve panels the crew had started on an hour earlier.

· 03 · What we ran

What we ran.

Three designs, as briefed, and each is a different colourway of the same composition: a guitar silhouette above Scout in red script and HARVESTER FESTIVAL in a black block.

One is dark, with a pale guitar. One is red-orange, with a white guitar on a white ground. The third is white and silver, and it is the one where the header copy reads most clearly: CAMP NORTH END, 400 CAMP ROAD, CHARLOTTE, NC 28206, beside SATURDAY 9.26 and 1:00PM - 9:00PM.

The designs run by wall rather than alternating within a block. South End took the dark sheets and the red-orange ones on adjacent surfaces, East 11th Street is red-orange almost end to end, North Brevard and West Trade are white, and South Graham is dark. A wall reads as one colour from across the street, and the route is what mixes them.

Every sheet is wheatpaste, and the surfaces here are the ones that take it best: painted brick, concrete panel, and boarded openings on buildings between uses.

· 04 · How it played

How it played.

The turnaround is the part worth noting. Artwork to paste was about two days, and the paper was on the wall eight days before the gates opened. A festival with free RSVP entry needs the lead time to convert, and a poster with a QR code on it only works if it is up while people still have a free Saturday to give it.

Charlotte's WSOC-TV covered the festival the day before it opened, with Scout CEO Scott Keogh describing it as a way "to put our flag in the ground" in the brand's new home city.

· 05 · Proof

Proof.

Nineteen frames document the run across the six stops, each stamped with its install time and the coordinates it was shot at, held in a private index rather than inside the published files.

The artwork does some of the documentation itself: every sheet carries the date, the venue and the address, so a photograph of a wall is also a record of what was being advertised and when.

· 06 · Notes

Notes.

Because both sides sit in house, the clock starts when artwork lands rather than when a print vendor schedules it, which is what makes an eight-day lead on a festival date possible at all.

Wheatpaste posters start at $3,500, with the rest of the published floors on the pricing page.

· 07 · Common questions

Common questions.

How fast can a poster run go from artwork to wall?

About two days on this campaign, with the install itself taking a little over two hours for a hundred sheets. Printing and installation are both in house, so there is no print vendor and no shipping gap between approving artwork and pasting it.

Why put a QR code on a street poster?

Because the ask was an RSVP, not a ticket purchase. The sheets went up eight days out, which gives someone who scans on a walk past enough runway to register and plan a Saturday around it.

What surfaces take a 24 by 36 wheatpaste poster?

On this run: white-painted brick, patched concrete panel, a concrete retaining wall and OSB-boarded storefront openings. Flat, dry and large enough that a block of thirty sheets goes up and reads as one surface.
