· 01 · The brief

A creative agency put its own rebrand on the street.

Grizzly put its own rebrand on downtown San Diego at jumbo scale, four designs pasted side by side so each wall carried the whole set.

Grizzly is an independent creative agency founded in 2013, based in San Diego with offices in Atlanta and Mexico City, and its own work sits at grizzly.co.

This run carried its rebrand launch. Grizzly sells brand and creative work, so the sheet on the wall doubles as a sample of it, and the posters carry a second line into the street: Ideas with teeth.

The market was downtown San Diego. Beyond Street Media printed and installed 32 jumbo posters at 48 by 72 and photographed every wall as the paste went on.

Four designs, one block

The run pastes as a block rather than a single sheet. The Grizzly repeat, GET BIG, the full brand line and the bear panel go up side by side on the same wall.

· 02 · Where we ran it

Seven streets carried it.

Park Boulevard, B Street, E Street, F Street, G Street, Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue, worked as a loop through the downtown San Diego core.

The first block went up on plywood hoarding over a concrete construction barrier, green fabric stretched on the chain-link beside it, residential towers and a construction crane standing behind, weeds and dirt at the base. Hoarding placements hold eight to twelve weeks. A second hoarding run sits further along under trees with late sun flaring at the top of the frame, a covered walkway at the edge of it where people wait with bags, a stroller and a pink backpack.

Another wall is cream stucco, a metal security gate at one end and a torn older poster still clinging at the other. Two bays of a storefront row under green-and-white striped awnings split one block between them, brick pilasters with red painted bases between them and a black tile kickplate along the ground. On black-painted boarded frontage under a yellow-olive upper facade, barred transom windows above and marker tags to the left and right, the panels carry the message. A grey painted brick wall carries a block below an OSB-boarded opening bolted over with steel bars, ART and BHB tagged on the lower boards.

At the pawn shop the signage reads PAWN SHOP and San Diego Jewelry & Loan, with a NO TRESPASSING placard on the wall beside it. The Grizzly block went up over concert bills already covering the plywood, TRAE THE TRUTH, CONWAY THE MACHINE and GRAFH still showing above the new paper, and posters at the edges advertise a 22 August date at Port Pavilion over a red brick paver sidewalk. A light concrete panel wall carries another block with a second Grizzly run visible further down the same stretch, a purple painted band running along the pavement. The placard next to those panels reads LETTER OF AGENCY ON FILE WITH THE SAN DIEGO POLICE DEPARTMENT above a B Street address, NO TRESPASSING, and PROPERTY MANAGED BY: WHEELHOUSE CREDIT UNION.

· 03 · What we ran

What we ran.

A yellow sheet repeats the word Grizzly with the line Ideas with teeth and San Diego, CA. A black sheet reads GET BIG with a yellow QR sticker. The third carries the sentence GRIZZLY IS THE BRAND AND CREATIVE PARTNER THAT HELPS BOLD BRANDS GET BIGGER, set as smaller tiled sheets with bear drawings worked in. The fourth is a bear illustration with its own yellow GET BIG QR panel and the Grizzly logo lockup at lower right. Two of the four hold a scan target.

The block reorders itself to fit the wall. On the cream stucco wall the tiled text sheets sit as a panel between the large GET BIG and the bear. At the awninged storefront the four designs split across two window bays instead of running continuous. The night wall mixes scales, a full-size Grizzly sheet and a full-size GET BIG standing beside a grid of smaller tiled sheets and the bear panel. Where a pedestrian walks past a finished run the paper tops out around shoulder height on an adult, which puts the scan target inside arm's reach of the sidewalk.

Beyond Street Media printed and installed the run in house, both inside the campaign number. A jumbo block is the same craft as our other paste-up poster campaigns, scaled up to one oversize format and repeated across the market.

· 04 · How it played

How it played.

The last white wall went up after dark under warm streetlight, a metal roll gate at one edge, conduit running up the face, older torn paper above the new run and a tiled inlay strip in the sidewalk below it.

Two frames put a person beside the work. A man with a backpack carries a cardboard box along the awninged row. A woman in a red top with a blue tote passes the pawn shop block, the paper topping out near her shoulder. Neither is posed. Both are the reason the buy sat on these blocks rather than on the freeway approach.

· 05 · Proof

Proof.

Grizzly's team shot behind-the-scenes content alongside ours while the sheets were going up, which left the rebrand launch with two records of the same night.

· 06 · Notes

Notes.

Four of them side by side fill a storefront bay end to end. That is the trade a jumbo run makes. The buy lands on a short list of walls, and each wall carries the whole message instead of one line of it.

Wheatpaste posters start at $3,500, with the rest of the published floors on the pricing page.

· 07 · Common questions

Common questions.

It covers four times the surface, so four designs side by side fill a storefront bay end to end and one wall carries the whole message instead of one line of it. The trade is spread. A jumbo buy lands on a shorter list of walls, which is why this run worked seven downtown corridors closely rather than thinning across the city.

What kind of walls take a jumbo run?

On this campaign, plywood hoarding over a construction barrier, cream stucco, grey painted brick, black-painted boarded frontage and the bays of a storefront row. Hoarding is worth asking for by name, since those placements hold eight to twelve weeks. The wall sets the layout, and where there was less clean surface the four designs reordered or split across two window bays.

How long does a run of 32 jumbo sheets take to install?

One working session here. The install log runs 15:52 to 19:31 on Wednesday, September 9, and the last white wall went up after dark under warm streetlight. Seven downtown corridors carried the 32 sheets. Printing and installation are both in house and both sit inside the campaign number, so there is no print vendor and no shipping gap between press and wall.

Where does a QR code have to sit to be usable from the sidewalk?

Inside arm's reach of the walking line. On this run the paper tops out around shoulder height on an adult, which puts the scan panel at a comfortable distance from the sidewalk instead of overhead. Two of the four Grizzly designs carry a scan target, so a pedestrian meets one whether they stop at the GET BIG sheet or the bear panel.
